Applecross looking towards the Isle of Skye
Applecross looking towards the Isle of Skye

From the beach at Applecross village. The Applecross Peninsular is attractive for its remoteness and every summer is a popular destination for tourists who love to approach via the spectacular Bealach na Ba (Pass of the Cattle). This provides some of the most challenging driving in the Scotland rising to 2053ft in height from sea level in about five miles attracting both motorcyclists and cyclists with it's similarity to the great mountain passes in the Alps with very tight hairpin bends switching back and forth up the hillside and gradients approaching 1 in 5
